Emily Brada (STODDART) BRIDGEMAN (1899-1975)

Born in the rectory at Ancrum on 11 February 1899 to Rev. and Mrs. DAB Stoddart.

Her career as a teacher took her to various Manitoba schools, including several years on the staff of Bannatyne school in Winnipeg.

In 1927, she married Frank Bridgeman and resided on the farm in the Lothair district. They had three children: Raymond Bridgeman, Grant Bridgeman, and Ella (Bridgeman) Younger (1930-2004).

Teacher, Community Member

Active in the community, she was President of the Women’s Auxiliary at St. Matthew’s Ancrum Anglican Church for several years and was the church organist for over 40 years. She was a life member in the Women’s Auxiliary and served for a term as secretary-treasurer of the Brandon Deanery. Ella was a charter member of Rivers Women’s Institute and a member of the Lothair-Daly Hospital Guild since its inception.

Many times, her poetic ability was called upon for community events and her cheerful disposition and kindness made her a friend to all.

Ella died in 1975 and was buried in Ancrum cemetery.
