Albert VANDAELE (c1887-1960)

On 26 May 1920 in St, Boniface, he married Marie Pygot (c1876-1963), and they had two children: Gilbert (1917-1968) and Rose Alba (1915-1999, wife of Roland Pelletier).

Barber, Community Activist

He came to Canada from Belgium in 1914 and settled in St. Boniface. He owned and operated the Tourist Hotel barbershop and retired in 1946.

Albert was a founding member of the Belgian Club of St Boniface, vice-president of the Belgian Mutual Association, president of the Robin Hood Archery Club and president of the Belgian Memorial Association of St. Boniface.

He died on 20 July 1960 and was buried in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery.
