MGS Volunteer Recruitment

The Manitoba Genealogical Society has purchased Vivid-Pix Restore software to assist our members and Resource Centre visitors in restoring old photos and cleaning up digital documents.  This program is free to use at both the MGS Resource Centre (Winnipeg) as well as at the South West Branch (Brandon) location.

Bob Allebone, Trainer

Some of our members aren’t interested in using computers, some don’t have time, and some don’t live near enough to access the program.  As a result, MGS would like to provide a paid service (a nominal fee) to restore photos and documents for our members.  To do this, we need a couple of volunteers who are willing to do the restoring of provided digital images for our clients.

We do not anticipate that there will be lineups for this service, but do expect that we will get requests from time to time.  We would like to find two individuals who are willing to receive the scanned images (documents or photos), restore them, and send them back to the client. These two individuals can work together or separately on these restorations.  Bob Allebone, President of the Southeast & Winnipeg Branch of MGS, will train the volunteers and be available if there are questions or problems.
