In June, 2022, at the MGS Annual General Meeting (AGM), changes to the MGS Constitution was discussed. We have since regularly informed members of this upcoming meeting to ratify the changes proposed at the 2022 AGM. The December, 2022 issue of Generations was largely a review of the Constitution and all the proposed changes. For details, view Generations 2022_V47N4 December.
The Special General Meeting – Constitution Changes will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 9:30 am to 10:00 am. All members are welcome to attend. Please email constitution@mbgenealogy.com if you would like to receive a Zoom link to attend, or drop by the MGS family history resource library to attend the meeting in person.
Following this meeting will be the MGS Council Meeting from 10 am to noon. All members are welcome to attend this also. MGS members have the right to be a guest at any MGS Executive or Council Meeting, and you will be warmly welcomed. All meetings dates are on the MGS calendar.
MGS CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 9: GENERAL MEETINGS OF THE SOCIETY
9.1 An Annual General Meeting of the Society shall be held within 90 days of the end of each
fiscal year. Notice of the Annual General Meeting, which will include the date, time, and place,
together with the agenda, shall be determined by the Executive and published in the Society’s
journal at least 30 days prior to the meeting.
9.2 Unless otherwise directed by members present, votes on motions at an Annual General
Meeting shall be by show of hands. Elections of officers shall be by secret ballot unless a
candidate has been acclaimed.
9.3 Special meetings of the Society may be called by the Council throughout the year, or by
petition signed by at least 30 members in good standing, to deal with matters that must be
discussed before the general membership.
9.4 At any general meeting of the Society, those members in attendance shall constitute a
quorum.
