Généalogie Franco-Manitobaine Saturday, March 2, 2024 / 2:00PM – 3:00PM, St. Boniface Library

Jean-Pierre Noël du Centre du patrimoine présente les ressources disponibles pour les gens intéressés à rechercher leurs racines Franco-Manitobaines et créer leur arbre généalogique. La session expliquera les normes de la recherche généalogique en passant par la loi sur la protection de la vie privée pour ensuite parler de la fiabilité des sources disponibles. Thinking about doing family history or archival research, but not sure where to begin? Connect with archivists David Horky and David Cuthbert from LAC’s Winnipeg office at the Winnipeg Public Library. Book a 30-minute appointment to discuss your questions on how to find records and resources related to genealogy, Indigenous history, immigration, military history, railways, and much more. Genealogy and Family History at Library and Archives Canada Monday, April 8, 2024 / 7:00PM – 8:00PM, virtual program on Zoom

This presentation will provide a brief introduction to Library and Archives Canada’s (LAC) vast collections and highlight the services and resources available at LAC’s service point in Winnipeg. Archivists David Cuthbert and David Horky will provide an overview of LAC’s databases and tools supporting genealogy research as well as opportunities to engage with LAC’s various teams and collections.

Cet exposé présentera un survol des vastes collections de Bibliothèque et Archives Canada (BAC), ainsi que les ressources et les services offerts au point de services de BAC à Winnipeg. Les archivistes David Cuthbert et David Horky donneront un aperçu des bases de données et des outils de BAC pouvant aider à mener des recherches en généalogie.
