Ivan Berkowitz was an artist and prominent Manitoban. He was born on 23 November 1936 and passed away on 15 June 2017.
Ivan Berkowitz had a passion for pottery and art, and many were the joyful recipients of his talents. Over time Ivan Berkowitz extended his art to others beyond family and good friends.
Pursuing his interest in heart health, he served as President of the Manitoba Heart Foundation, was a member of the Board of the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, and was founder and President of the Myles Robinson Memorial Heart Fund. For 15 years he was the Development Director at the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences. He volunteered with Variety Club and served on the board for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Manitoba Centennial Corporation. In recognition of his community service, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012).
