Themed Thursdays Feb 29 – Mar 28

Join our Themed Thursdays, five Thursday afternoons where our Research Department will teach the attendees about the various genealogical tools at the Resource Library, what those tools can do to help with research and how they can help you with your family history research going forward.

These casual sessions involve a short overview of what the tool is, demonstration on how the tool works and a walk through of a couple examples; sharing informational tips along the way.  If you have ever had questions about how to navigate and use these tools, now is the time to pick the brains of our knowledgeable research team members who use these tools each week for research clients.

The dates and topics are as follows:

February 29 – Learn about searching Ancestry.com
March 7 – Learn about searching for B,M,D records through Manitoba Vital Statistics and obits and cemetery transcriptions through MANI
March 14 – Learn about searching NewspaperArchives
March 21 – Learn about searching for census records through Library and Archives Canada and other sources
March 28 – Learn about searching in print and online Henderson Directories

These sessions are FREE and open to the public.  DROP IN anytime between 10 am and 3 pm at the MGS Resource Library, Unit E, 1045 St. James Street, Winnipeg, MB.  If you have questions before attending, please email research@mbgenealogy.com

      Hi Douglas,

These are in-house presentations of the resources available in the MGS Resource Centre.  We take people for a physical tour and show them how to use the resources for their genealogical research.  There are no plans at the present time to do these via ZOOM, but you never know what the future holds.  If these Themed Thursdays get a good response, we may consider expanding how we present them.

      Thank you for your interest.
