NEWS from the Association of Manitoba Museums

Proudly Serving Museums in Manitoba Since 1972
August 24, 2022
The Association of Manitoba Museums is pleased to announce that it will be holding an in-person conference this year!

This one-day, in-person conference will be held on Friday, October 21 at the brand new Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada in Winnipeg. (A virtual option will also be available via Zoom.)

2022 marks the AMM’s 50th Anniversary of serving museums in Manitoba. In honour of this milestone we are proud to announce that Senator Pat Bovey will be our Keynote Speaker.

The theme of this year’s conference is Pivoting to New Perspectives.

Since museums first began as private collections of acquired curiosities, they have presented one voice – one point of view. We now recognize that there are voices that haven’t been heard that need to be heard in order to honestly present our shared history.

Conferences are an excellent opportunity to learn, share, and get to know museum and heritage professionals from around the province. There are approximately 200 museums in the province and many share the same concerns and visions for the future. Getting together like this promotes working together toward our common goals and aspirations.

After a day’s worth of sessions, we will hold a closing reception as a chance to chat more with colleagues and presenters; including Senator Pat Bovey. If you can’t make it in-person to the conference, consider registering for the closing reception after work a chance to meet Senator Pat Bovey from Manitoba and help us celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

Registration online via TobaTickets.

A line-up of confirmed speakers will be posted and updated here as will a conference program.

We hope to see you there! We’ve really missed you.
