About the Branch
In September 1970, the Dauphin Branch of the MGS was formed and the organizational charter was signed by fifteen founding members. Since its inception, the Dauphin Branch has been involved in collecting local research materials such as marriage, birth, and death records and cemetery transcriptions from Dauphin and the surrounding area. Members of the Dauphin Branch have access to the branch library holdings, located at the Parkland Regional Library in Dauphin, MB.
The boundaries of the Dauphin Branch are located within the Parkland region of Manitoba and include Riding Mountain National Park in the South, the Saskatchewan border on the West, and Lake Manitoba/Lake Winnipegosis to the North and East.
Aims of the Branch
- To encourage and assist those interested in researching their personal family histories in the Parkland region of Manitoba.
- To collect and preserve information, books, manuscripts, and other related material relevant to genealogical study in our area.
- To encourage and instruct members in ethical practices, correct methods, and effective techniques for genealogical research.
- To publish and distribute local and provincial articles, bulletins, or other material to promote the work of the branch.
