About our Logo
Our branch logo, represented by the three trees, was given to us to use courtesy of Lynn Roseman, an MGS life member. Lynn’s mother – Mary Catherine (Collishaw) Smith, was the illustrator. Mary was born on August 29, 1925 in New Westminster, BC. She passed away on October 19, 1993 in Toronto, ON.
Mary graduated as a Landscape Architect from the University of Toronto on June 11, 1973, after raising her family. A passionate naturalist and gardener, she introduced the idea of “natural heritage” in conjunction with built heritage, as an active member of the Shade Tree Council of Ontario, the Conservation Council of Ontario, and the Toronto Field Naturalist Association, serving the latter as President from 1982 to 1984. Her illustrations of trees appeared in several publications by these organizations in the 1970s and 1980s.
We proudly display Mary’s artwork
to represent our MGS Branch.
