The MGS Resource Centre at 1045 St James Street, Winnipeg is staffed by MGS volunteers every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm, and is staffed one Saturday per month by volunteers of the Southeast and Winnipeg Branch. No appointment is required to visit the MGS Resource Centre during our normal open hours on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Please consult the MGS calendar for Saturday openings to confirm the day and hours. A Saturday opening of the MGS Resource Centre is subject to an appointment being made. An appointment can be made by any MGS member or a non-member.
There is no admittance fee for an MGS member, or any member of the public who wishes only to use an MGS computer to access any of the over 400 million restricted access files of Family Search. The MGS Resource Centre is an approved Family Search Affiliate Library. If a non-member wishes to access any of the other resources such as our over 10,000 books, an international edition of NewspaperArchives.com, the Library Edition of Ancestry, Vivid Pix photo restore software or volunteer research assistance, there will be a $10 daily use fee.
To make an appointment for a scheduled Saturday opening please send an e-mail to se-winnipeg@mbgenealogy.com and indicate the following:
- Your name
- What time will you arrive on or after 10 am and before we close at 3 pm.
- If you will require research assistance, please advise what the focus of your research is and what you wish to accomplish during your visit at the MGS Resource Centre. By doing so, we can advise you if we will be able to be of assistance or whether a referral to our Research Team may be more appropriate.

Your request for an appointment must be received by us at least one week before the scheduled Saturday opening to ensure provision of adequate library volunteers. If no appointments are made for a scheduled Saturday, the MGS Resource Centre will not open on that day.
