Culture Days Manitoba
Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture across Canada. As a registered charity, the national Culture Days organization works with each province since 2010 to provide this community event to connect the huge network of artists, organizations, municipalities and media with the public. By offering these activities and events for free to the public it connects and gives everyone a chance to experience what others already know about the vast wealth of arts and culture in our communities.
In Manitoba it’s part of our everyday life and Culture Days Manitoba gives us the opportunity to share this gift locally, now both in person and online.
At Manitoba Genealogical Society we have participated in this event since 2014, to open our resources and library to the public and give then a tour and insight into how they might start their family history. They can also meet with many of our volunteers that have experience using specific resources for their own genealogical research. It’s an opportunity to have someone show them the various resources available to anyone either starting or broadening their genealogy research.
Traditionally Culture Days Manitoba was held the last weekend in September. As the list of participants, activities and interest has continued to grow, Culture Days now runs for a month towards the end of September and into October giving lots of flexibility and time to enjoy so many more events.
