Many registered charities would not be able to function without volunteers. At MGS we run on volunteers. Volunteering is an enriching experience in many ways.
Many people shy away from Volunteering with the thought that it will be a lot of work. At MGS, we have TASKS that need doing, and believe that many hands make light work. Instead of one volunteer taking on a large role, many volunteers take on the tasks of that role. We still have someone in that council position, but that is more of a supervisory role to coordinate the TASKS that are being done.
In Canada, a staggering number (almost half) of the population volunteered their time, energy and skills to non-profit and charitable organizations. Manitoba has the second highest rate of volunteerism in Canada. Our desire to help others, meet new people, gain experience in a casual environment, get involved in our heritage community and make a difference are some of the reasons why we do it.
Volunteers do not necessarily have the
time; they just have the heart.

Are you self-motivated and ready to jump into wherever the need is greatest? Or do you have a specific area of interest? We all have different experience and a variety of life skills that we prefer to contribute. Please look at some of our Volunteer Opportunities. And if a TASK seems a better fit, we have those too!
